2008 sees the 17th year of the H90J Grand Prix. The competition is open to paid up members of H90J members only and makes use of local races in Essex. To stand a chance of winning a prize, you will need to run at least 5 of the 7 races. You do not need to be part of a team to take part. You can enter as an individual, so if don't turn up for a race, you won't be letting anybody down. However, teams of ANY three are welcome to try to win the team prize.
The Individual League is broken up into several divisions. Each division consists of runners of similar 10K times regardless of age or sex and the time spread aimed for each division is 2-3 minutes. Therefore, you will only compete against runners of similar ability.  So, if it takes you an hour to run a 10K you will only be competing against others who take about that time. If you manage to improve over the season, then you stand a good chance of winning the division.  ingate2007.jpg

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO

Look at the list of runners on the notice board or website and make sure you are in the correct division, which is based upon your 10K time. If your name isn't on the list, write it on with your current 10K time or see Alex and we'll place you accordingly. Please be as accurate as you can in getting the positions right. No cheating !! It's a good idea to take part in a 10K by early June to get a time. There may be a bit of tinkering with divisions after Horndon 10K. If you want to enter the team competition, organise yourselves into teams of three of any ability and give the team a name. Give the details of your team to Alex. Turn up and run as many of the races, from June thru December, as you can. Before the start of each race, make sure Sandra knows you are running, so that she looks for you at the finish. Also, just in case, keep a note of your time and check you are on the club GP result sheet at the finish. Please wear a club T-shirt or vest so that you are easily recognised, which is especially true for new members who might otherwise go un- noticed at the finish. Please take the competition as seriously as you like - the trophies are there to be won.
