H90J recognise that not everybody can make all club nights, nor can all manage to regularly enter weekend events. But we want to encourage everybody to get out and run as much as they can. So the club offers weekend morning runs throughout the year at different venues around the borough - the exceptions are dates when the club is holding its own event or when there are events that form part of our competition calendar which are open to all members (Grand Prix, Winter Cup, ELVIS and X-country league). Start time is usually 08:45 for 9am start.
On Saturdays, Parkrun - this is a national scheme that H90J supports locally. The Havering venue is Harrow Lodge Park See separate item on the website for details
On Sundays the venues change according to season and the training needs of participants. All standards are welcome and even if a long run is planned it will offer options for shorter distances. As far as possible the format is trail or multi terrain routes. The group approach introduces you to new partners and helps motivation - the more who take part, the more who get to improve their running. All venues provide loos and after the run there is always a cafe to provide refreshment and time to chat.
The latest scheduled events, including Sunday Runs, are shown on the Calendar and includes events and venues that club members may find of interest.
Objective: An informal Sunday 9.00am run for Havering 90 Joggers. Distance approx 5 miles, normally from a country park in the local vicinity, with coffee/cakes after. Runs are open to all but distance pace will/can vary according to the attendees. Please note that at certain times of the year many runners can be marathon training; this can often lead to a more fragmented event with runners starting at different times/locations. As always the intent where possible is that all runners finish at the same point/time for coffee/cakes.
Sunday runs are intended as an inclusive event and are a great way to meet others within the club that you would not normally run with.
Scope: Whilst it is the intent to make this an open run available to all with a jog leader available to help coordinate the run it is not guaranteed this will always be the case. That said there have been very few cases over the years where this has not occurred. If a jog leader is available they will aim to keep the group together to ensure no runners are left alone, the jog leader will try to keep the group together as much as possible by getting the faster runners to turn back and re-group. If there is a larger group then then sub groups naturally establish themselves.
Sunday runs are an informal event unlike the normal Tuesday and Thursday evening events, as such H90J cannot guarantee objectives will always be met. As a minimum we aim to post each week a Sunday run if no other major events are occurring; distances, attendance are somewhat fluid.
