Last Tuesday saw the return of the Havering ’90 Joggers annual Midweek 5 race at Raphael Park, following last year’s lockdown break.
Over 230 runners competed in the 5-mile race from clubs all over East London, in what was one of the first UK Athletics races since the relaxation of Covid restrictions.
First of the men across the line was Paul Quinton from East London Runners who finished in 27:45, and first woman was Jennifer Heymann from Eaton Manor AC in a time of 32:45.
The club chairman, Ron Dobie, commented “We are delighted to have hosted another successful race night. This could not have happened without the hard work of over 50 volunteers and all the runners taking part. We will be making donations to breast cancer and prostate cancer charities from the proceeds of tonight’s event.”
Following UK Athletics guidelines, Havering ’90 Joggers have fully re-opened at their new home at Two Gables in Upminster Hall Playing Fields and are welcoming new members of all abilities on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7:15. Contact enquiries@h90j.org.uk for more details.
