Most Improved Runner awards 2019

Your H90J committee are delighted to announce the winners of the Most Improved Runners Award for the 2019 season. Congratulations and well done to Christina Clementson and Tony Gray for their sterling efforts. Seasoned runners will know how hard it is to improve your running when you’ve reached “That Plateau”. However, in the 2019 season Christina, who has been running at a consistently high level with Havering '90 Joggers for many years, did just that. With lots of hard work and dedication to her training plan she managed to reach another level, exemplified by personal best runs of 01:44:23 at the Essex Remembrance Runs Half Marathon and 47:29 at the Billericay Striders 10k both in November 2019. By comparison, Tony Gray is a relative newcomer. After a couple of years running parkruns Tony had already managed to get his Saturday morning 5k time down a good way to a very respectable 30 mins. During the 2019 season, Tony mixed it up by taking to the gym and boy did we see a transformation. Clearly this paid dividends as we saw a meteoric improvement in Tony’s running over the whole season and by the end of the year he was achieving 24:21 at parkrun, 49:45 at Leigh On Sea 10k and 01:49:20 for the Havering Half Marathon.
